Pay attention to this if your really want to leverage your time...Research shows that nonverbal communication — body language, tone of voice, posture, and facial expressions can carry more weight than your actual words.

While the famous claim that '93% of communication is nonverbal' isn’t completely accurate,

the truth is that when your words don’t match your body language, people will trust what they

see over what they hear.

That’s why mastering body language isn’t just about looking confident — it’s about helping

others feel comfortable, connected, and relaxed around you.

Here’s how to use your nonverbal communication to supercharge your social life.

1. Why Body Language Matters So Much

Think about the last time you met someone who was nervous or tense. Even before they said

a word, you probably felt their discomfort. Humans are wired to pick up on subtle cues like facial expressions, breathing patterns, tone and rhythm of speech, posture, and gestures. When your body language radiates ease and openness, people naturally feel at ease with you. That’s the foundation of friendship and trust.

2. Posture: Your Foundation of Confidence

Your posture speaks volumes before you even open your mouth, so stand tall AND relaxed with your shoulders back, chest open, chin level. You can stand with your back against a wall and then imagine a string pulling at the top of your head, pulling straight up. This is the posture you want to try to maintain. Avoid slouching or crossing arms, as these create a closed-off vibe. Lean slightly forward when someone’s talking to show interest. Walk with intention — a steady, grounded pace signals confidence.

3. The Power of a Genuine Smile

Few things disarm and connect people faster than a real smile. It signals friendliness,

approachability, and warmth. A genuine smile reaches your eyes, not just your mouth. Avoid

forced smiles, as people can sense fake enthusiasm instantly. If you try your best to start smiling more you'd be surprised how much a differnce it can make when talking to people.

4. Eye Contact: The Glue of Connection

Eye contact builds trust — but there’s a balance to strike. Too little eye contact may seem

distant or untrustworthy, while too much can come across as intimidating.

5. Vocal Tonality and Pace

Your voice is part of your body language. The way you say something often matters more

than what you say. Speak at a moderate pace — rushing can signal anxiety, while speaking

too slowly can feel dull or unnatural. Vary your pitch and tone to keep your speech engaging,

and use strategic pauses for emphasis. Try singing along to your favorite songs in the car when you drive, it can really help you to strengthen your vocal chords.

6. The Relaxation Effect: Calm is Contagious

One of the most powerful and underrated elements of great body language is relaxation.

When you are calm, others mirror your energy. A tense, fidgety person makes everyone

around them uncomfortable. A relaxed, grounded person helps others feel safe and open.

7. Learn from the Masters

If you want to truly master body language, study people who excel at it: Talk show hosts, who

lean forward, nod, smile, and mirror emotions; James Bond, the classic image of confidence;

and comedians or actors who use timing, facial expressions, and movement to capture

attention.

Body language isn’t about faking confidence — it’s about expressing your true self clearly and authentically. When you align your words, voice, and body, people feel at ease, trust you

more, and naturally want to be around you.

...

This is going to feel unatural at first, any time you try to change your body language it can feel weird or fake, but after doing it for a while and seeing how effective it can be really changes how you experience things and you just keep doing it because it starts to feel more 'you'. So stick with it!!
